The EGW Evolved 1911 Sear Spring is a recent development by EGW, who are known for their innovative approach to improving upon original designs. With over 30 years of experience in the 1911 market, they have created a sear spring that addresses the common issue of sear spring slot cuts on 1911 frames being too low, causing inadequate engagement with the sear. Many sear springs available in the market are not long enough to fix this problem, but the EGW Evolved 1911 Sear Spring is specifically designed with an extra .030" length on the left finger, to accommodate frames that encounter this issue.
The EGW Evolved 1911 Sear Spring has several design features that improve its performance. These features are listed below:
- Detail A: The left side of the spring has a relief cut, ensuring a smoother, crisper trigger pull by allowing the spring to move without rubbing on the frame.
- Detail B: The sear pad on the left leaf is less than half the size and weight than other sear springs, reducing the weight for recoil or inertia to act upon.
- Detail C: The center and right side leaves are 5% narrower to reduce weight and increase feel.
- Detail D: The disconnector pad on the center leaf is also smaller than other sear springs to reduce weight while retaining the standard contact.
It should be noted that during the heat treatment process, EGW does not glass bead or sandblast the sears. This causes the springs to have a spotty finish, but this is not rust and does not affect performance in any way.
