Saeco moulds are made using solid cast iron blocks, with each cavity being machined one at a time. To ensure uniformity, the same cutting tool is used for each cavity, which duplicates the previous one. This eliminates the need to pay a premium for matched cavities. Additionally, Saeco has developed its blend of copper-alloyed pearlitic cast iron which guarantees tight grain structure, dimensional stability, and an extended life. The steel sprue plates are fixed firmly against the mould blocks by high-temperature spring washers to ensure the bullets have square bases and are uniform.
