Most bolt action rifles tend to collect debris, including brass chips, primer residue, bolt lug grease, solvents, and brush bristles, in the locking lug area. This accumulation of debris can cause wear and tear over time. To clean this neglected and hard to reach area, every rifle owner should use our lug recess tool routinely.

The lug recess tool is specifically designed to clean the locking lug recess area and can be used with felts or cotton rolls. The tool has a slotted head that accepts cleaning felts and cotton rolls (supplied with the tool). To use the tool, insert it into the action and rotate it inside the lug recess areas. Solvent can be applied to the felts or cotton to remove debris. Once the debris has been removed, a dry felt or cotton roll can be used to dry the area out.

To clean and dry the chamber, we recommend using our chamber swab and handle, which has 8-32 threads for large bore mops. Additionally, our double-headed bolt brush is perfect for scrubbing the bolt lugs, bolt face, and bolt body.
