In order to perfectly replicate the actual throat of a rifle, the holes in the Sinclair Bullet Comparators are cut using throating reamers. These comparators are designed to be used with calipers and enable the reloader to measure the length from the major diameter of the bullet to the case head accurately. The comparator also facilitates precise seating depth adjustments to your bullet seater. As the Sinclair Comparator is not attached to the calipers, the calipers remain free to take other measurements. Additionally, the comparators are machined from stainless steel.

The Sinclair Comparators are available in two different models, which can cover bullet calibers ranging from .17 caliber to .338. The first model (09-600) includes holes that are bored and throated for .224, 6mm, .257, 6.5mm (.264), 7mm, and 308. The second model (09-700) has throated holes designed for .172, .204, .224, .270, .308, and .338 calibers.
